Thursday Update from Saba y Chiara
Today was our first full day of class at Itaca! We learned about the history of the Alhambra in preparation for our visit tomorrow, as well the mezquita of Cordoba, which we are going to visit on Saturday! We then had a break and went and got some cappuccinos, but not after 12:30 because it is not normal, and then we all met back at Itaca learning center as a school. From school, we walked 10 minutes to our lunch destination for the day, which was tapas. We all tried tapas for the first time and fell in love with them, though many people were tired from our classes earlier. They were so delicious and unique! Our favorite tapas were the ones with olives and cheese with potatoes! After tapas, we all went back to the school to talk with Spanish students studying English, and got to learn more about and become closer with kids our age from Granada! We exchanged passions, questions about one another’s lives, and phone numbers! After meeting and befriending the local Spanish students, a couple of us went to have a taste of America and hit up McDonald’s, where we shared some laughs over Oreo McFlurry madness! We will not go there again, do not worry parents. We just needed a taste of home as it was raining and we were tired. We ended our day with a pleasant dinner with our host families, eating delicious zucchini soup and chicken, and a lemon condensed milk yogurt that our host mom handmade for us! We don’t know the name yet but once we do we will share! Que delicioso ¡Gracias a la nuestra madre Teresa!
